Distinctive signs such as trademarks, commercial names, commercial slogans, and trade dress are valid for ten years beginning on the day they are granted. Once such term expires, the owner may renew distinctive signs for an additional ten-year term.

National legislation allows for the renewal process to be initiated six months before the expiration date and grants a six month grace period after the expiration date.
