Commercial names are understood to be the signs or denominations that identify a business or commercial activity and thus distinguish their owners´ activities in the market.

Although national legislation states that the right to exclusive use of commercial names is based on at least six months of public and continuous commercial use in good faith, in our experience with Intellectual Property, we recommend registration with the IEPI, since this constitutes full proof of the initial date of use and ownership of the registration.
